Consultation on keeping of bees on allotments

At the August Allotment Committee meeting it was agreed that there should be a consultation on whether beekeeping should be allowed on the allotments. We’ve drafted some Beekeeping Rules, taken from those already used by BDBC. If this concerns you, please could you read through these and let us know – by email to :

  • Whether or not you think beekeeping should be allowed
  • Reasons for your opinion
  • Whether the draft Rules require any changes.

Please could you let us have any feedback by the 10 September? You will also have an opportunity to discuss this with committee members at a drop in session on 1000-1200 on 5 and 6 September – contact for details.

August Allotments Committee Meeting

In line with government legislation for holding council meetings, the council will be holding the first meeting of the Allotments Committee online at 1930 on Tuesday 25 August. We’ll be using Microsoft Teams: just click on this link to join. See the detailed instructions for full information.

Download the agenda and supporting papers here.

As it can be difficult to organise online meetings for lots of people, it would help to know how many members of the public might be joining. If you intend to join, please could you email the Clerk beforehand?
